The Young Sounds Bands

Young Sounds is Arizona's premiere youth Jazz Institution. It offers high-level performance and educational experiences to talented musicians ranging in age from 14 to 19. Young Sounds is comprised of three ensembles — The 5 O'Clock Big Band, The 7 O'Clock Big Band, and The Young Sounds Jazz Combo. The performers come from over twenty schools in the greater Phoenix area. All members are accepted by audition and represent the best young talent the Valley has to offer. Young Sounds is directed by Barb Catlin, a luminary of the Valley music scene.
